Hey,

I'm Isabell and I've been studying Social Work at Fulda University of Applied Sciences since the summer semester of 2024.

Here's what you should know about me ...

After completing my university entrance qualification in 2022, I was still a little unsure which path was right for me, so I initially decided to do a "Voluntary Social Year" at a primary school near my home. I really enjoyed my active participation with children and was able to start my service with joy every day, which was the first important step towards my professional future.

Due to the many great and instructive impressions, I initially studied primary school teaching for one semester, but then quickly realised that university studies with hardly any practical orientation and a largely lecture hall character did not make me happy. So I started looking for a study programme that covered my interests and gave me a lot of pleasure - social work.

Impressions of my study programme ...

I am particularly impressed by the strong practical orientation and the family atmosphere due to the courses being kept relatively small for the most part. This made it easy for me to make connections and friends. I also find it impressive to gain a broad basic knowledge for the social field, which prepares me for later activities in a wide range of work areas, so that the university studies never get boring. Completing my work placement semester in a pre-school and in the UBUS area at a primary school shows me that I have found my path.

About the university ...

What I particularly appreciate about the Fulda University of Applied Sciences as a whole is the beautiful campus, where you can find the modern library for motivating study sessions; but also the cafeteria, which fills the campus with life, especially in summer, with its great outdoor seating. Not forgetting the short walking distances, as all buildings are located on one campus.

The city of Fulda ...

I live in my home town of Schlüchtern, about 30 kilometres away from the university and commute there, but I still enjoy spending time in Fulda. Whether for a leisurely shopping trip followed by a visit to a café, a walk through the Fulda floodplains or the castle park, an excursion to the Rhön, a pub crawl through the old town - Fulda has something for everyone. Best of all, almost everything is within walking distance of the university or can be reached by a well-developed local transport network.
