The survey takes place in the winter semester from November to the end of January, in the summer semester from May to the end of June. Participation in the survey is voluntary. Completion time: 15-20 min.
First-year students surveys have been conducted at Fulda University of Applied Sciences in an adapted and revised form since the winter semester 2014/15. Based on the data from the surveys of the last few years, it has already been possible to make adjustments and improvements to the enrolment and introductory stage. With your answers, you as first-year students can participate directly and from the very beginning in the development of the university. Only if enough first-year students take part in the survey a representative picture of the situation at the start of studies can be analysed.
With the help of the first-year students survey, data can be obtained that depict your situation as a first-year student, your expectations and needs. Among other things, the following questions should be answered: What path have you already taken and how did you find your way to Fulda University of Applied Sciences? How did you feel about starting your studies and what expectations do you have regarding your further studies? What can Fulda University of Applied Sciences do to further optimise the start of studies in the future?
The first-year students survey is conducted at the beginning of each semester. All first-year students (Bachelor's and Master's programmes) are invited by e-mail to take part in the survey. Thus, the survey forms the starting point of a continuous study progress evaluation. In later surveys, you will be asked about your current situation during your studies (midterm survey) as well as your situation after you have completed your studies (graduate survey). The data will then be linked to the introductory stage. The linking of different survey data enables Fulda University of Applied Sciences to identify, for example, certain university conditions that hinder or promote studying. To make this possible and at the same time guarantee the anonymity of the survey, you will be asked to generate a personal code. This code is used exclusively to be able to assign results from different surveys on the evaluation of the study situation found during and after completion of studies to the same case, without endangering your anonymity. This personal code consists of a combination of letters and numbers. This combination of information is not known to anyone at the university except you, but can be easily derived by you.
