University Sports takes part in the ‘Together out of loneliness’ campaign week

As part of the ‘Together out of loneliness’ campaign week, Fulda University of Applied Sciences opened its chess programme to anyone interested. On Wednesday 28 May, beginners were invited to immerse themselves in the world of chess from 5 to 7 pm. Advanced players had the opportunity to immerse themselves in strategic chess games from 7 to 9 pm. The courses took place on the campus of Fulda University of Applied Sciences at Leipziger Straße 123, Building 53, Seminar Room 301.

Background

The ‘Together out of Loneliness’ campaign week, initiated by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ), is part of a strategy adopted by the German government in 2023 to combat loneliness. This event takes place throughout Germany and aims to make loneliness visible and actively combat it in all phases of life and age groups. From 26 May to 1 June 2025, the campaign week should bring people together, facilitate encounters and encourage people to talk openly about loneliness and how to overcome it. As the topic often remains a taboo, it is important to counteract this silence. The campaign week aims to sensitise the public, those directly affected and their relatives and inform them about the numerous offers of help available.
