Travel tips for the lecture-free period

24/07/2023

Visit UNESCO World Heritage sites in Hesse with your semester ticket.

On the UNESCO´s world heritage list over 40 cultural and natural sites can be found in Germany already . In 2021, four new sites had been added to that prestigious collection.
Those newcomers were the cities Baden-Baden, Bad Ems and Bad Kissingen, located in Hesse´s neighbouring states Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Bavaria and only 60 to 250 kilometres from Fulda.

The fourth recent addition to the world heritage list was the Artists' Colony “Mathildenhöhe” in Darmstadt, Hesse. Fulda University´s students can reach Darmstadt as well as other UNESCO world heritage sites in Hesse for free, when using their semester ticket for the public transportation. Why not make use of the free time in the lecture-free period and the semester ticket to visit places such as “Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe” in Kassel, the “Pit Fossil Site” in Messel, the “Lorsch Abbey” or the “Limes”, the ancient Roman border in Germania.
