Presentation of student projects
22 Feb 2026

The crowning finale of the current round of the sustainability certificate took place on Saturday, 7 February 2026. The students who took part in the basic module "Understanding and shaping sustainability: Principles, Perspectives and Transformation" in the winter semester were able to present the case studies they had developed. In addition to Professor Dr Chalupová, who heads the module, the Sustainability Office and Dr Anke Günther, Vice-President for Personnel and Finance at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, whose department is responsible for sustainability, were also present. There were also a number of interested members of the audience, who received the students' ideas and posters with great interest and enthusiasm.
Over the course of the semester, the students worked on the following tasks in small groups:
- Understanding transformation: Explaining the word "transformation" in the context of sustainable development in a playful way
- Social sustainability in defence: Ethics, law and governance in a dilemma
- Sustainable Christmas party: Celebrating with responsibility and creativity
- Sustainability apps 24/7: Numerous apps available, which ones really support sustainability?
- Climate adaptation on campus: Effective communication in the context of climate adaptation and heat protection measures on campus
- Hands-on biodiversity on campus: sustainability in the context of biodiversity in everyday university life
The very different case studies show the many facets and the wide range of sustainability, which comprises not only the ecological but also the social and business dimensions. The students presented their results with creative approaches, analyses and ideas. Some went straight to action and, for example, designed an AI-supported game to bring transformation to life, which they presented on site. The students' poster results will be exhibited in the foyer of the library on campus from 25 February 2026.
As part of the module, the students explored sustainability using a variety of methods, e.g. the "Sustain 2030" Business Simulation, various inputs from the field, Lego Serious Play and background knowledge on the dimensions of sustainability as well as the soft skills required to achieve a solution-oriented approach to sustainability challenges.
The certificate module will be offered again in the summer semester 2026 and will also be offered in English for the first time in the winter semester 2026/2027.
