Independent right to confer doctoral degrees
The independent right to award doctoral degrees has been conferred upon Fulda University of Applied Sciences for certain departments. These departments may therefore award doctorates. To exercise the right to confer doctorates, PhD centres have been set up.
At least twelve research-focused professors form the core of the PhD centres. The research-focused professors earn the right to confer doctoral degrees by raising third-party funds and through their publications.
The quality of doctoral degrees is also guaranteed by other factors, such as the division of the supervision and review procedures and the appointment of at least two reviewers.
The range of possible doctoral subjects depends, above all, on the areas of research of the respective professors. To obtain more detailed information, visit the sections on our PhD centres.
Contact University Administration / PhD Coordinating Office
The PhD Coordinating Office is a supporting body. It supports formal doctoral procedures and strategically develops structures for doctoral degrees and young researchers. It exercises and evaluates the university's right to confer doctoral degrees and promotes regular cooperation between the PhD centres. It also coordinates the university's own and cooperative doctoral research groups at Fulda University, devises and develops interdisciplinary support measures for young researchers and ensures compliance with reporting requirements, among other things with regard to the responsible state department. It promotes cooperation with other universities in the state of Hessen, and it supports PR work and the administration of a research information system.
As a first point of contact for information and advice, it supports prospective PhD students, doctoral candidates, supervisors and all other persons involved in the doctoral degree.
