The implementation project VII is part of the innovation focus C "Innovation in the
health sector: access, care, qualification" in the Regional Innovation Centre Health and Quality of Life Fulda (RIGL-Fulda).
Demographic change and societal changes are also leading to health problems in the Fulda region due to chronic diseases that are primarily caused by lifestyle-related factors. Health professionals in dietetics make an essential contribution in the therapy of these diseases. Against this background, innovative approaches for the further development of the training of this professional group and for the implementation of process models in the practice of dietetics are urgently needed. This meets demands for evidence-based and cost-effective work in the health system and makes a significant contribution to tackling the burden of disease caused by non-communicable diseases.
Against this background, the standardised process model of the Dietetic Care Process (DCP) for individualised nutritional counselling and therapy specifically geared to the needs of clients was developed with university participation in the EU research project IMPECD1. In addition, the process model is used to provide nutritional intervention according to more transparent and structured procedures.
1 Improvement of Education and Competences in Dietetics (duration 09/2015 to 08/2018). The starting point of the project is the development of a standardised Dietetic Care Process (DCP) model with the steps of nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis, planning and implementation of the nutrition intervention as well as monitoring and evaluation. As a further output of the project, an English-language Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with a volume of five ECTS is being developed for the curricula of the dietetics degree programmes of the five participating universities (https://impecd.fhstp.ac.at/).
Within the framework of the present implementation project, practice- and demand-oriented concepts for the implementation of the DCP model are developed, implemented and evaluated cooperatively with the practice partners. Recommendations for action for the supraregional implementation of the DCP will be derived from the results.
