What is CINTEUS?

CINTEUS sees itself as an institutional framework and intellectual centre for the academic treatment and public communication of topics and problem areas that have a central influence on our present and future.

The main areas of research include sociological research on globalisation, migration, inequality and interculturality; economic research focusing on inter- and transnational issues; political science research on EU integration and EU policy; legal research in the fields of comparative and international labour, social and migration law as well as European law; and interculturality research in communication studies.

The Centre also sees itself as an umbrella for the diverse social and cultural science activities in the areas of knowledge transfer, promotion of young academics, counselling and further education at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. The Centre's activities range from the implementation of major third-party funded projects, conference projects and lecture series to the publication of a CINTEUS series.

Tasks

CINTEUS has formed research focuses within multi-layered intercultural and European topics. Research is carried out on interdisciplinary issues at department and university level, particularly in the disciplines of sociology and political science, law, communication studies and linguistics, all of which are represented at the university.

Goals

The aim of CINTEUS is to support the traditionally intensive and diverse activities of the professors teaching at Fulda University of Applied Sciences in the areas of social and cultural sciences research, knowledge transfer, funding of junior researchers, advisory services and continuing education, and to strengthen and further develop specialised resources and research profiles with an interdisciplinary and international focus.
