Research focus and projects

Globalisation and Europeanisation processes are leading to new types of interdependence, exchange and dependency relationships between societies, economies and states, some within Europe and some worldwide. Against this background, interculturality is gaining central importance as a problem of action and organisation.

In the course of the opening up and dissolution of boundaries in modern societies, spaces for experience and action, problems and new types of conflict situations as well as options for organisation are emerging, which are the subject of the research and knowledge transfer activities of CINTEUS.

The diverse research activities of CINTEUS members can be thematically assigned to three interdisciplinary research fields: globalisation, Europeanisation and European integration and interculturality.

Globalisation

This field focuses on sociological research into globalisation, migration, inequality and interculturality; political research into labour relations and economic research into inter- and transnational issues.

Europeanisation and European integration

This field focuses on EU integration and EU policy research in political science; legal research in the areas of comparative and international labour, social and migration law as well as European law.

Interculturality

This field focuses on linguistic and communication studies as well as sociological interculturality research.
