Multiplier conference this time in online format
24 Mar 2021
In preparation for the "Action Day on Sustainable Washing", actors are professionally trained once a year at a multiplier conference in technical questions on washing and cleaning as well as on aspects of sustainability. On the day of action, multipliers at numerous locations throughout Germany provide information on the proper use of detergents and cleaning agents.
On 12 March 2021, the Scientific Centre for Nutrition, Food and Sustainable Supply Systems (ELVe) of the Department of Oecotrophology at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, in cooperation with FORUM WASCHEN, invited participants to the multiplier conference in online format. More than 70 multipliers had the opportunity to learn about the latest developments and findings in the fields of washing, dishwashing, hygiene and cleaning. This year's patron of the Action Day, Prof. Dr. Dirk Messner, President of the Federal Environment Agency, gave a lecture on "Sustainable Washing" and pleaded for sustainable consumption. Other topics were the safe use of washing, care and cleaning products (Dr. med Andreas Stürer, head of the Poison Information Centre of the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse), consumer safety of enzymes in washing and cleaning products (Dr. Barbara Dücker, Novozymes) and new energy labels for dishwashers (Dr. Paul Richter, Midea) and for washing machines and tumble dryers (Gundula Czyzewski, BSH Hausgeräte GmbH/Roland Siedentopf, Electrolux Hausgeräte GmbH). Furthermore, Dr. Bernd Glassl from the Industrieverband Körperpflege- und Waschmittel e. V. (IKW) (Industrial Association for Personal Hygiene and Detergents) enlightened the participants about the claims made in a TV programme as "alleged tricks of the detergent industry".
Instead of the usual workshops, the conference provided valuable suggestions for the design of the action day in the form of digital reading contributions: "The glove in your household" (Sabine Bühler/Susanne Walter, Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions), "Rediscovering everyday things: How to develop a quiz from care symbols?" (Kerstin Ochs, independent expert), "Results of the IKW survey on product incompatibilities of washing, care and cleaning products" (Dr Stephanie Morris, IKW). Despite the special conditions, the purely digital format of the multiplier conference met with very high approval among the participants.
