Researchers from various departments at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and the University of Kassel have been working together in the joint Research Association for Social Law and Social Policy (FoSS) since 2013. The participants come from the departments of Health, Social and Cultural Sciences and Social Work at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and the Departments of Humanities, Social Sciences and Business Sciences at the University of Kassel. They work on socio-political and social law topics from the perspectives of various disciplines such as political science, law and business sciences, sociology, social pedagogy, social medicine and history.

The main objectives of the research association comprise the funding of cooperation in research and teaching between the participating universities, the support of junior researchers and the transfer of knowledge into practice. In doing so, emphasis is placed on networking research between the universities, the departments involved and practice in the region in order to increase the national and international visibility of research activities. The researchassociation is also open to researchers from other universities and practitioners and is supported in its work by the Verein zur Förderung von Forschung und Wissenstransfer in Sozialrecht und Sozialpolitik e.V. (Association for the Funding of Research and Knowledge Transfer in Social Law and Social Policy ).
