Public Health Centre Fulda

Interdisciplinary, forward-looking and unique in Hesse

The Public Health Centre Fulda (PHZF), which was established by Fulda University of Applied Sciences in January 2017, is the only research and instructors in Public Health and Public Health Nutrition in Hesse.

Public health focuses on the health of populations and population groups, which is influenced by social, political and economic factors, among others. As the Central University Administration of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences, the PHZF supports interdisciplinary, inter-university and international research activities. The discipline of Public Health is assigned to the research focus 'Health, Nutrition and Food' - the first of three profile-forming research focuses at Fulda University of Applied Sciences.

With the award of the right to award doctoral degrees from the state of Hesse in December 2016 for a doctorate in Public Health (Dr. P. H.), the discipline of Public Health at Fulda University of Applied Sciences is part of the development of an independent, profession-specific scientific discipline from which the academisation and professionalisation of the nutrition and health professions will benefit considerably.

The aim of the PHZF is to support the activities of its members relevant to public health in research, qualification, continuing education, advisory services and transfer. Research profiles and specialised scientific resources are to be strengthened and further developed.

The Public Health Centre Fulda aims to be a forum for exchange and networking with regional, national and international cooperation partners from practice, teaching and research for all members and all interested parties.

We offer

  • various exchange formats on current developments, relevant topics and (new) concepts and strategies in public health and public health nutrition,
  • various publication formats for the publication of research activities in public health and public health nutrition (such as Public Health Papers and Public Health Perspectives)
  • Advisory services and support for the transfer of theory-practice projects,
  • Further education and training opportunities for our members
  • Funding and qualification of junior researchers and
  • regular newsletters for courses, conferences, lecture series, calls for proposals etc. relevant to public health and public health nutrition.
