Corporate Social Responsibility: Benefits of responsible and sustainable action for social organisations and society
Conference Review 29 May 2018, University Centre Fulda Transfer
Prof. Dr. Bettina Stoll and Prof. Dr. Heike Herrmann, as representatives of the Centre for Society and Sustainability (CeSSt) of Fulda University of Applied Sciences, together with Mr. Karl-Hans Kern (Managing Director of the Caritas CSR Competence Centre) invited to a specialist forum on the topic of "Corporate Social Responsibility: Benefits of Responsible and Sustainable Action for Social Organisations and Society" at the University Centre Fulda Transfer at Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz on 29 May 2018. The focus of the forum was on the opportunities and challenges of living social responsibility (CSR) by companies in the social economy, especially through cooperation projects with profit-oriented companies.
Corporate Social Responsibility is becoming more and more important as a strategically relevant concept also for organisations of the social economy. Whether in their role as a potential partner of companies, in order to work together with them on social challenges, or in order to position themselves as comprehensively responsible and sustainably acting employers, to position themselves credibly in the public and to increase their own attractiveness for potential employees, volunteers and sponsors.
The conference therefore looked at how CSR can help to achieve professional goals and implement the tasks of the organisation and showed examples of how CSR can be anchored in one's own organisation. In addition, it was discussed why CSR strengthens public trust in one's own brand, both for commercial and social economy enterprises, and to what extent CSR measures have a positive effect on the recruitment and retention of employees.
The great response showed the topicality and relevance of the subject: around 100 participants from academia, practice (especially companies in the social economy) and students from Fulda University of Applied Sciences followed the exciting lectures and discussions.
