Dual study model

In the dual study programme at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, students regularly transfer between theoretical courses at the university and practical placements in the enterprise: You work full-time in your enterprise during the practical placements and study full-time at the university during the study phases. At Fulda University of Applied Sciences, we offer our students an innovative and contemporary teaching concept:

  • Our face-to-face courses, which take place on campus at the university, focus on personal exchange in real time.

  • In addition, study content is independently developed and specialised inself-study phases.

The theory takes place in one of our two study models, depending on the study programme:

  • Integrated training programmes combine a university degree with professional training. In addition to the Bachelor's degree, it is possible to obtain a degree in a recognised training occupation.

  • Practice-integrated dual study programmes are characterised by a university degree combined with intensive practical placements. In a practice-integrated Bachelor's or Master's programme, you can acquire sound practical knowledge in addition to the respective academic degree.

Time models

depend on the respective study programme.

practical placements

specialisations deepen theoretical knowledge and are firmly anchored in the course of study.

Duration of study

between 3 and 4 years (6 - 8 semesters) in the dual Bachelor's degree programme and 2 years in the dual Master's degree programme.

Your advantages as a practical placement partner

Securing skilled labour in the long term - this is what our dual study model enables you to do: you train young talent internally in a targeted manner and bind them to your enterprise at an early stage. After completing their university studies, graduates are immediately ready for work - you can save yourself costly and time-consuming familiarisation phases.

You receive very well qualified employees with practical know-how, which they can already help to shape during
the practical placements in your enterprise.

Students on dual study programmes develop a strong bond with their practical placement partner right from the start.
As future subjects and managers, they are familiar with the needs of their colleagues.

Students on dual study programmes are performance-based, determined and highly motivated.
They can already take on responsible tasks and their own projects during their university studies.

As a partner in a dual study programme, you are involved in shaping the university studies on two levels: You have a significant influence on the practical phases of your students and can contribute to the further development of the study programmes, for example through collaboration in practice advisory board meetings.

Through the dual students, you establish close contacts with the university. In this way, you combine practice and research and benefit from technology and knowledge transfer at the same time.
