Professorship "Organisation and Management in Social Work" in the Department of Social Work

Dr David Rüger has been appointed as a professor in the Department of Social Work. The 37-year-old represents the specialist field of "Organisation and Management in Social Work".
After completing his university studies in social work at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen (HAWK), he initially worked for asc-Kinderbetreuungs gGmbH in Göttingen and the city of Salzgitter. He then worked as an academic researcher and administration of professorships at the HAWK in Holzminden.

In his dissertation at the University of Hildesheim, Professor Rüger investigated conflicts between civically engaged people and developed a procedure for matching civically engaged people and civil society organisations.

His current research focuses on civic engagement and, based on the results, he develops strategies and instruments for volunteer management in civil society organisations and the promotion of civic engagement in municipalities. Another focus of his work is the organisational conditions of professional action by social workers.
