Professorship for General Business Administration, in particular Business Management and Entrepreneurship in the Department of Business

Dr Michael Bott (59) has been appointed as a professor in the Department of Applied Sciences at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. He takes over the specialist field of General Business Administration, in particular Business Management and Entrepreneurship.

Michael Bott was born in the district of Fulda and grew up in a family of craftsmen. After training as an industrial clerk at Ondal GmbH in Hünfeld and completing his military service, he went on to complete university studies in business engineering at Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences. He then worked for several years in technical sales and service for centrifugal pump systems at KSB AG in Germany before taking over as Managing Director of the company in Hong Kong in 1998, with employees responsible for China. After five years, he moved to Jebsen & Co in Hong Kong as General Manager and then to Continental AG in Mainland China in 2005. He managed a production plant for Continental ContiTech as General Manager and was subsequently responsible for the market development of technical products for commercial vehicles and high-speed trains. During this time, he completed a part-time EMBA at the China Europe International Business School and started his doctoral degree at Newcastle University (UK) with a specialisation in variable compensation models for industrial workers in China.

He returned to Germany in 2013 and initially supervised Ford globally for turbocharger components and then took care of sales and marketing for industrial tyres in Germany. From 2021, Dr Michael Bott was an interim professor in the Department of Business. Since 1 October 2025, he has held the professorship for General Business Administration, in particular Business Management and Entrepreneurship at Fulda University of Applied Sciences.
