Professorship "Software development, especially cloud technologies" in the department of applied computer science

Dr Cathrin Möller has taken over the professorship of "Software development, in particular cloud technologies" in the department of applied computer science.

The 38-year-old studied physics at the Technical University of Darmstadt (specialisation in experimental nuclear physics) and obtained her doctorate in 2013 in cooperation with the Society for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt. In her work, she dealt with optimised C-programming for calculations in the context of heavy ion therapy for the treatment of tumours. She has published her research results in several international journals.

Professor Möller brings more than ten years of business experience in the field of full-stack software development from various companies and industries, including e-commerce and insurance. At TNG Technology Consulting GmbH in Munich, she worked in high-end IT consulting in the field of agile software development and cloud technologies. Most recently, she worked as a Principal Consultant, as an expert for customers, as a manager and in the training course for employees.

She specialises in the architecture of distributed systems. The "microfrontends" approach recognises that not only the backend but also the frontend of web applications can be orchestrated as a distributed system. She also speaks on this topic at specialist conferences.
