If you are supervising or reviewing a doctorate - regardless of whether you have independent doctoral supervision rights at Fulda University of Applied Sciences or cooperative rights with a university - you can ask your dean how much reduction in teaching load your department grants for supervising doctorates and then apply for a reduction in teaching load. The application form for a reduction in teaching load is available on the intranet of Fulda University of Applied Sciences. The prerequisite for this is a doctoral supervision agreement concluded with the doctoral candidate.
If you are teaching and researching in an area for which the Hochschule Fulda has the right to award doctorates you can ask the head of the doctoral research centre under which conditions you can be admitted to the doctoral research centre and thus independently carry out doctoral studies.
Differences in the doctoral supervision agreement
If you are supervising a doctorate independently at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, you must conclude a doctoral supervision agreement. The supervision agreements are available at the respective doctoral research centres.
If you are supervising a cooperative doctorate with a university, you do not have to conclude a doctoral supervision agreement, but it is advisable to have sample supervision agreements for cooperative doctorates.
The Presidential Board of Fulda University of Applied Sciences adopted supervision standards for doctorates as guidelines on 30.06.2022 following approval by the Senate on 15.06.2022. These were previously developed in a participatory process with the members of the doctoral scholarship awarding committee, the heads of the doctoral centres and the HRS4R network at Fulda University of Applied Sciences.
In the "Doctoral Working Group", professors at Fulda University of Applied Sciences who supervise doctorates or are interested in supervising them meet with the Vice-President and the Doctoral Officer of Fulda University of Applied Sciences to exchange information about doctorates and their supervision. This is also an important body for determining the needs of the "doctoral base" and incorporating them into the planning of the university. If you are a professor at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and are interested in participating, please get in touch with your contact person for doctoral funding.
