If you supervise a doctoral project or assess a doctoral thesis, whether within one of Fulda University of Applied Sciences’ doctoral centres or as part of a cooperative doctorate with a university, you can ask your dean about the teaching-load reduction available in your department. You can then apply for a reduction in teaching duties. The application form is available on the university intranet. A signed doctoral supervision agreement with the doctoral candidate is required.
If you are teaching and researching in an area for which the Hochschule Fulda has the right to award doctorates you can ask the head of the doctoral research centre under which conditions you can be admitted to the doctoral research centre and thus independently carry out doctoral studies.
Doctoral supervision agreements
If you supervise a doctoral project within one of Fulda University of Applied Sciences’ doctoral centres, a doctoral supervision agreement is required. The relevant agreements are available from the respective doctoral centres.
For a cooperative doctorate with a university, a doctoral supervision agreement is not mandatory, but it is recommended. Please use thesample supervision agreements for cooperative doctorates.
Following approval by the Senate on 15 June 2022, the Presidential Board of Fulda University of Applied Sciences adopted doctoral supervision standards as institutional guidelines on 30 June 2022. The standards were developed through a participatory process involving members of the Doctoral Scholarship Award Committee, the heads of the doctoral centres and the university’s HRS4R network.
Supervising professors can take part in specialised courses offered through the joint continuing education programme of the Hessian universities of applied sciences (AGWW).
