Support for researchers at Fulda University of Applied Sciences

The team national research funding offers researchers at Fulda University of Applied Sciences a comprehensive range of services. You can contact us with a finalised proposal idea and also with first project ideas. We will then be happy to discuss with you the best ways and means of realising them.

Fulda University of Applied Sciences provides internal research funding every year. These funds serve, for example, to develop innovative research ideas, prepare for larger externally funded projects and to initiate interdisciplinary research projects. If you have any questions about whether your project idea is suitable for an internal call for proposals, please do not hesitate to contact us.

ELFI – Electronic Research Funding Information

The ELFI database centrally collates information on research funding and makes it available for inter-university / inter-institutional / cross-university access. The full spectrum of the German research funding landscape, as well as a wide range of European and international scholarship programmes, is available in the online database. Call for proposals, information sheets and forms can be downloaded directly from the internet.

Research, International Affairs and Knowledge Transfer Information Service – FIT for Research

FIT is an email service that provides you with targeted and tailored information on research funding. You can register with FIT using your email address and create a personalised user profile: you choose the academic fields, types of funding and sponsors about which you would like to receive information. At a time you choose, you will receive an email containing the latest funding information relevant to you.
Staff and students at Fulda University of Applied Sciences who wish to use this service may subscribe to it. To do so, you must use the domain “...@hs-fulda.de”.

Our services for enterprises and institutions

External parties are also welcome to contact us regarding the following:

  • Joint research and development: Together with researchers from Fulda University of Applied Sciences, you will conduct research into an applied topic relevant to your organisation. Your temporary project group will receive comprehensive support that comprises both content and organisation. Projects can be funded at regional, national and international levels. If you would like to find out more, we would be happy to provide you with advisory services.
  • Commissioning research projects: We also carry out research on your assignment. We provide expert, solution-oriented support in defining and implementing your project. Our academic networks enable us to set up thematic research groups.
  • For theses, doctoral degrees and accompanying academic research: As part of your assignment, we will find the right contact persons within our departments.
  • Funding databases for enterprises and institutions: The websiteof the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) lists numerous funding options. You can use this database to find out which scholarship programmes are suitable for research projects carried out in collaboration with universities.

Comprehensive advice

The team for EU research funding and international research and transfer relations advices and supports university members and external partners with EU project applications, from the selection of the right program to project implementation. It offers a comprehensive advisory service in the areas of research, education, innovation and transfer. Applicants are guided through the entire process of applying for and implementing EU-funded projects.

Excellent research requires excellent support: Our research support team is available to provide you with all necessary information to make your research prosposal a success. We support you along the entire process of application, realisation and public outreach.

The division provides comprehensive support and guidance to researchers in launching and carrying out research projects, supervising students working towards a doctoral degree, organising knowledge transfer events at the University Centre, and much more besides.

In 2016, Fulda University of Applied Sciences was the first university of applied sciences (HAW) in Germany to be granted the right to award doctorates in social sciences with a focus on globalisation, European integration and interculturality. Other disciplines have since been added with the right to award doctoral degrees.

Professors can award doctorates in their field of research to their graduates and also to graduates from other colleges and universities, supporting academic careers at universities of applied sciences.

If you would like to supervise or assess a doctorate, there are differences between doctorates with independent doctoral authorisation and cooperative doctorates that are carried out in collaboration with a university. You can find out more on the following pages:

Working Group for Academic Continuing Education (AGWW): The AGWW is an association of Hessian universities, of which Fulda University of Applied Sciences is also a member. The subject areas of the joint continuing education programme include leadership skills, university didactics, university development, methodological skills and social skills. In addition, special education programmes are also offered. The course programme is accredited by the Hessian Ministry of the Interior. More at AGWW Hessen.

Further training programmes for doctoral candidates: Special education programmes are offered for doctoral candidates, which can take place at various universities. The aim of these programmes is to support doctoral candidates and those interested in doing a doctorate in their doctoral work and along the way in order to prepare them for their professional career. The statutes regulate, among other things, what good scientific practice means at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and how misconduct is to be dealt with. It is based on the recommendations of the German Research Foundation.

The Fulda University of Applied Sciences maintains a committee for the assessment of fundamental ethical questions of research and ethical questions of academic research on humans. This includes foundational research, epidemiological research with personal data and research with therapeutic objectives.
