Research Days 2025 of the FGCSS in Fulda

Over 20 doctoral students exchange ideas about projects.

This year's FGCSS Research Days took place in Fulda on 14 and 15 May. Over 30 doctoral students came together to exchange ideas about their research projects and to network. The event kicked off with a welcome session for seven new doctoral students, followed by a research workshop in which participants discussed personal research topics in small groups, moderated by professors and members with doctorates, under the guiding question: "One topic that is currently on my mind is ". This was followed by a World Café on the topic of doctoral supervision, where doctoral candidates and supervisors discussed expectations, experiences and successful collaboration at three themed tables. The first day was rounded off with a joint dinner in the centre of Fulda, where Professor Tonia Ruppenthal opened the second day with a presentation on the topic of "Food shopping, cooking and eating habits of young adults in Germany - A quantitative research study". After the lunch break, three parallel workshops took place: EthnographicConstellations with Prof. Dr Kirsten Nazarkiewicz and Prof. Dr Rixta Wundrak, "Designinga Qualitative Interview" with Dr Ina Alber-Armenat (University of Göttingen) and "How to surviveyour PhD" with Dr Sebastian Garbe.

The FGCSS General Assembly met at the degree of the Research Days. Prof. Dr Eva Gerharz reported on current developments and the new doctoral student representatives for the Centre Board were chosen, and the Research Days provided an inspiring framework for exchange, reflection and new impetus on the joint path to a doctoral degree at the FGCSS.
