Negotiating Europe's Future:
:
Fulda Delegation at Global MEU 2026 in Brussels
05 Feb 2026

From 5 to 7 January, 13 SK students took part in the Global Model European Union (Global MEU) 2026 in Brussels under the guidance of their faculty advisor and lecturer, Zhylien Kaja. The programme began on Monday with a visit to Bruges, before the simulation unfolded in Brussels on 6 and 7 January, where European politics came to life.
Representing Estonia, Lithuania, Slovenia, and Bulgaria, the students stepped into the roles of ministers and heads of government, simulating the work of the Council of the European Union and the European Council. Through intensive negotiations, press briefings, and policy debates, they engaged with key European and global challenges—from security and defense to climate policy, energy independence, and EU foreign affairs.
The Global MEU in Brussels was hosted by the Brussels School of Governance and organised in cooperation with international partners, including Ithaca College, Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, SUNY Cortland, the University of Lille, and the University of London Institute in Paris. Overall, the simulation offered a dynamic and immersive learning experience, sharpening the students’ diplomatic, negotiation, and analytical skills while vividly bringing EU decision-making to life.
