Doctoral research centre for social work

Right to award doctoral degrees since 2017

 

The doctoral research centre organises doctoral procedures in the discipline of social work, advises on all matters relating to doctoral degrees and supports junior researchers through a qualification programme with workshops and conferences on theories, current challenges and research methods in social work.

Top rated and practice-oriented

 

Our "B.A. Social Work" face-to-face degree programme has been consistently positioned at the top of the CHE university rankings of social work degree programmes in Germany since 2017 and has since then repeatedly achieved top ratings in student assessments.

CHE RANKING 2023/2024

Around half of our students are now qualifying alongside their profession in part-time and dual programmes offered. The Department of Social Work has more than 20 years of experience in blended learning, i.e. teaching and university studies based on e-learning and attendance components, which have already been recognised with "Excellence in Teaching" and "Cum Laude" awards.

All study formats offer academically sound, practice-oriented training for the broad professional field of social work. In particular, the university studies should enable graduates to plan, implement, evaluate and reflect on complex courses of action in the field of social work.

In addition to the professional qualification, the university studies at a research-strong department naturally lay the necessary basics for further application and research-oriented higher qualifications up to a doctoral degree.
