Social Work in a Globalised World
Social work in an international context: new digital teaching formats for study exchange.
"The current crisis poses a challenge to universities and scientific organisations to dynamically advance digital learning and working under the pressure of events. At the same time, however, it also offers great opportunities against this background. In order to systematically specialise international higher education cooperation and design it with new mobility patterns (blended mobility), virtual exchange represents an interactive bridge to the world designed for cooperation." International Virtual Academic Collaboration (IVAC) of the DAAD
ABOUT THE PROJECT
With the project Social Work in a Globalised World 3.0, a micro degree in the field of (critical) social work will be designed and didactically and methodologically developed together with four partner universities across four continents.
INTERNATIONALISATION FROM HOME
How important it is to enable (academic) international exchange among students in virtual space as an alternative and supplement is shown not least by the pandemic that has made semesters abroad "on site" almost impossible. Thanks to digital media and networking, international, academic and cultural exchange remains possible. Even beyond the pandemic, internationalisation from home is a profitable approach to provide as many students as possible with international experiences and intercultural competences. This is where the IVAC project at Fulda University of Applied Sciences comes in. The aim of the project is to create a digital study route that enables globally-networked studying in virtual classrooms - without a compulsory change of location. Students from Fulda will be able to take joint seminars with students from Australia, Namibia and the USA and expand questions of social work with international perspectives. To this end, a transnational digital study programme Social Work in an International Context is to be established. International digital cooperation formats will thus become accessible to further target groups, making intercultural experiences possible, for example, for social work students whose financial or family situation does not allow for physical mobility.
