Students on the part-time social work study programme (BASA-online) worked with the city of Schlüchtern to develop project outlines related to practice for political child and youth participation.

In total, students worked in 13 tandems on concepts designed to make the living environment of young people visible, strengthen political participation and break down barriers to urban development. The transfer of theory into practice was the focus of module O13 "Project planning and evaluation": research, the involvement of local experts and the evaluation of initial approaches managed to produce realistic, realisable proposals.

Three project ideas have now been honoured by the city of Schlüchtern! First place was taken by the "Schlüchtern4Youth" concept by Yasna Abdul-Rahman and Julia Helbig, which comprises a comprehensive participation system with digital and analogue formats. Second place went to Ann-Kathrin Sippel and Caroline Muth for the "Your Schlüchtern - Your Voice" approach, which aims to actively motivate young people to get involved. Third place went to Annabell Glübert and Jennifer Felderer for their idea of a "Schlüchtern children's and youth parliament".

The city sees the projects as a good basis for further expanding participation opportunities for young people in the future and incorporating their perspectives more strongly into urban development.

The module was accompanied by Prof. Dr Judith Ommert and Momo Sabel from Fulda University of Applied Sciences, Kerstin Baier-Hildebrand (head of division 1.2 Families, Sport, Culture, Tourism of the city of Schlüchtern) and Günther Koch as youth welfare planner of the Main-Kinzig district and chairman of the social committee of the city of Schlüchtern.
