Emerging Researchers Conference

13 Mar 2026

Almost 40 researchers from different disciplines and universities discussed current research topics on various aspects of transformative processes.

At the conference on the topic of "Transformative action for sustainable societies", 10 early-career researchers presented their research in four panels on "Transformations on a small scale", "Transformative social work and social justice", "Spaces for transformations" and "Transformative action and health" (see detailed program below) and discussed it lively with experienced researchers and doctoral candidates. This resulted in an intensive interdisciplinary exchange, which also provided an opportunity for networking. .

As a degree, Michael Winkler explained in his presentation on the topic "What are we actually talking about when we talk about social work? Remarks on the subject of the debate on social work / social pedagogy", outlining a theory that applies to the whole of what, in his opinion, characterises social work and social pedagogy. He argued in favour of a self-image that focuses on one's own performance and an understanding of one's own professional ethos that allows both security and openness in one's own actions.

The conference was organised by the research centre "Society and Sustainability" (CeSSt) at Fulda University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the doctoral research centre for social work.
