The title of her dissertation, supervised by Prof. Dr Petra Gromann (HS Fulda), is "Experienced Involvement in Social Psychiatric Care in Germany" and was reviewed by Prof. Dr Henning Daßler and Prof.in Dr.in habil. Christiane Schöl (also HS Fulda).
Susanne Iris Bauer can look back on many years of experience in the field of social psychiatry. After training as an occupational therapist, she first completed a B.A. in Medical Professions alongside her education and then a part-time M. A. Community Psychiatry at the HS Fulda.
She is currently working in the externally funded project "H³- HighFlex, HighTech & HighTouch - Enabling academic success through flexible skills development and teaching/learning scenarios" as project coordination at HS Fulda.
Her dissertation focusses on service user involvement in social psychiatry with the concept of Experienced Involvement Recovery Support (EX-IN): This professionalises peers for use as colleagues in social psychiatric care. In her work, Bauer sheds light on the impact of EX-IN settings and provides data on the employment situation of EX-IN. She examines the conditions for success and resistance and shows transformative potential for the field of social psychiatry with regard to inclusion and participation in work and, in particular, overcoming stigmatisation and discrimination against people with mental illness.
