Social space / social structure analysis
Topics
Social space is not only the social-geographically limited space (area, district, region), but is constructed by the acting individuals in each case: Space is created through the interaction of people. This research focus examines the interrelationship between social and spatial development. In an interdisciplinary perspective and with a special focus on the social sustainability of developments, it is taken into account that social space orientation is an increasingly important concept for action in different fields of social work. The research in this focus area serves to qualify practice, for example with regard to
- Development of social space analysis procedures;
- monitoring demographic and socio-structural developments in cities and regions;
- moderation of processes of regional cooperation;
- participatory project development with hard-to-reach social groups;
- Establishment and expansion of local network structures.
The research projects in this priority area are integrated into national and international cooperation and discourses.
