Project description:
The presentation of the different district-specific surveys and interventions of the project was the focus of the final conference on 12 and 13 June 2009 in Fulda, which was attended by the international partners of the CHANCE project as well as local multipliers. The basis for all district-related health projects was the analysis of the respective national health information system, the specific local district profiles as well as a standardised (almost identical questionnaire in all countries) and a guideline-based survey of the residents. In particular, those groups were interviewed in the individual European neighbourhoods that are less mobile and more dependent on the neighbourhood's conditions (older people, families and people with a migration background).

Research questions:

  • What resources do neighbourhoods and districts offer for the health of their inhabitants ?
  • What health resources do different lifeworlds and cultures offer ?
  • Who listens to which health information?
  • Which health information can be prepared for a specific district?
  • How does a district learn to stay healthy?

Together, guidelines for the organisation of community health management were drawn up. The total of 14 guidelines are to be made available to organisations and institutions throughout Europe that aim to set up such structures, adapted to the respective local socio-spatial situation, in order to promote health and make it easier to obtain information on health topics.

Chance therefore investigates how people who organise their everyday lives in different European cities perceive information on the topic of "living healthily" and how they deal with it.

As practice research, Chance focuses on the participation of residents of the selected city districts in the development of local projects.

Together with local providers of consumer health education, specific offers were developed with the individual city districts.
