Compensation for disadvantages

in respect of examinations

Students can claim compensation for disadvantages if they have a chronic illness or a disability and therefore cannot or can only partially complete the examination in the prescribed form and/or duration. The examination performance is then adapted through the use of technical aids, another examination form or a longer processing time (see § 21 Para. 1 ABPO). Neither the content nor the degree of difficulty of the performance changes as a result of a disadvantage compensation, only the framework conditions are modified in such a way that equal participation is made possible as far as possible.

Before submitting an application, please read the following detailed information on disadvantage compensation carefully.

General information
General Information

Submit the application for disadvantage compensation by 1 December for the winter semester and by 1 June for the summer semester. A retroactive application for disadvantage compensation after an examination is not possible. If you need assistance with your application, please contact Corinna Steinebronn. Otherwise, the application should be submitted in full with appropriate proof to Prof. Dr. Susanne Dern, who will decide on the application. If the disadvantage compensation is granted, please inform the examination coordination and the relevant lecturers independently. A granted disadvantage compensation does not replace the registration for the examination, this must be done additionally in any case.
