My name is Lisa Vockeroth and I have been studying social work since the 2023/2024 winter semester. For me, the dual study programme was the best decision, as it allows me to use theoretical knowledge directly in practice. At the same time, I’m gaining a better and better understanding of why certain offers in social work are designed the way they are.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing sport and doing voluntary work. I, too, had lots of questions at the start – ranging from uncertainty about whether the dual study programme was really right for me, to practical topics such as finding accommodation and shared accommodation. Hello, my name is Elias Witzel.

I have been studying the BASS dual study programme – Social Security and Social Administration – at Fulda University of Applied Sciences since the 2024/25 winter semester.

I particularly appreciate the close integration of theory and practice. Whilst I’m learning the theoretical content at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, I’m also working 25 hours a week at the Fulda District Job Centre. There, I’m gaining related knowledge about the processes, structures and fields of work of a job centre and can use what I’ve learnt straight away.

The university studies are flexibly structured and can be easily reconciled with professional and personal commitments. Once a month, there are weekend contact sessions at the university (on Fridays and Saturdays). The rest of the time, we work on e-learning modules, carry out group projects and coursework, and specialise in studying the material independently.

The on-campus weekends also offer a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with students from different districts and to build networks.
