Applied Computer Science

The Department of Applied Computer Science has technically very well-equipped laboratories. They allow high technical standards to be maintained during practically oriented study periods:

Audio-visual laboratory (AVLab)

The AVLab has the technical equipment needed to produce and digitalise video sequences and to incorporate audio-visual material.

LinuxLab

The LinuxLab is where students learn about the SuSE Linux operating system, which is used, for example, in the courses on operating systems, parallel processing and web applications.

SoftwareLab I and II

Software labs I and II work with the MS Windows operating system and are used for programmer training or project work, for example.

Business IT Lab

The business IT laboratory provides the IT infrastructure for topics in the fields of multifunctional client computing and distributed database and middleware environments, for example.

MediaLab

The MediaLab is equipped with state-of-the-art technology which allows you to produce your own film or professional photos, to carry out observational studies in the UsabilityLab or to explore 3D worlds.

Embedded Systems Lab

In the Embedded Systems Lab you can use the Digital Trainer to develop and test simple digital electronic circuits or to practise basic assembler programming on test computers.

NetLab

The lab is intended to provide practical examples of application in computer networks and to enable students to conduct independent experiments
