Cisco Networking Academy

The Department of Applied Computer Science  at Fulda University is a „Networking Academy“ and offers registered students the chance to take optional courses in addition to their regular studies.
These courses are geared primarily to students majoring in Internet Engineering but are also open to students with other areas of specialisation or from other disciplines if they are interested in technical subjects. The courses are offered alongside regular courses, although attendance phases are scheduled during lecture-free periods (semester break or on Saturday) .

We focus, in particular, on the CCNA R&S Academy courses (Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching), with advanced courses, e.g. CCNA Security, and supplementary Cisco Certified Networking Professional courses (CCNP ROUTE, CCNP SWITCH and CCNP TSHOOT) also available. In addition to the course completion certificate awarded for each of the courses, appropriate industrial certification examinations can be taken at external examination centres, some of them at a reduced fee.

The course takes place once a month (6 appointments) at Fulda University on saturdays (8am - 3pm).
Students of Fulda University care eligible to participate from the first semester onward. The participation fee is 50 euro.

The characteristic features of cyber criminals and their tactics are analysed. Moreover the course shows technologies, approaches and methods to combat against cyber criminality.

If you are interested and have access to the NetAcad platform, you can join the course yourself.

Cisco Networking Academy placed at the department of Applied Computer Science

The Department of Applied Computer Science has been cooperating with the Cisco Networking Academy since 2004 and has been a support and training centre since 2009. As part of the IT Bildungsnetz e. V., it also plays a key role in promoting the Academy’s ongoing development in Germany. This also involves the integration of practice-based examples and innovative lab environments in university courses and the Department’s applied research.

Educational opportunities for people outside the university

Within the context of the Academy, Fulda University also provides support for other universities or affiliated educational establishments. In the past, numerous Cisco Certified Academy Instructors (CCAI) have been trained to meet the needs of other universities.
Students who complete Academy courses with very good grades are also offered opportunities to work as instructors and thus gain additional experience. Apart from building skills, this has enabled a number of past graduates to embark directly on careers with Cisco and other companies specialising in networks.

Was ist das "Cisco Networking Academy Program"?

Education and technoligy are fundamental for participation in society, overcoming social barriers and social prosperity. Personal success is usually based on good education, modern communication tools allow easier access.
Cisco has been cooperating with partner institiutions in germany for more than 17 years to allow many people access to current technical education through the Cisco Networking Academy. Each year thousands of academy participants learn to plan, build and maintain computer networks.

Graduates know how to set up a secured network. IT specialists have good career prospects. More than 330 networking academies in germany use contents of Cisco in their courses. The pedagogic concept is oriented towards „blended learning" including online courses for self-study or the classroom, simulation tools and practical exercises.

The worldwide networking academy program unites people from more than 165 countries. Youths and young adults of different origin share a common objective: acquire the competences to be successful in a world dominated by technology.
