The impact of the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey has caused shock and dismay at Fulda University.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their families.

For many years, Fulda University of Applied Sciences has maintained close ties with Turkey and Syria. Six university collaborations with institutions in Turkey have led to lively exchanges between the two countries and many Fulda students and researchers have spent time there.

More than one in ten international students at Fulda University comes from Syria or Turkey. Many other University members, students and staff also have friends and family in the two countries.
The Presidential Board of Fulda University issued a statement, saying: “We are deeply saddened and wish to express our most profound sympathy.“

Students at Fulda University affected by the tragic events can contact the Psychosocial Counselling Service in complete confidence through psb(at)hs-fulda.de.

According to many aid organisations, donations of money are currently needed most urgently. Important information on the earthquake and links to the fundraising campaigns of major relief organisations can be found on the website of the German Federal Foreign Office.
