What is it all about?
As children, adolescents, adults, and finally senior citizens, as individuals or families, people's needs change over the course of their lives and are complex at many different levels. The aim of this programme is to enable the students to develop and communicate counselling and other services that fit the demands and take into account people's needs and their phase of life. If applicable, it shoulb be integrated into corresponding marketing strategies. The practice and project-based degree programme offers you professional training, which makes you attractive to employers in tomorrow's professional world.
The degree programme is the only one in Germany that blends project-based learning in the first year of the degree programme – and has been doing so successfully for more than 30 years. From the first year on, you work and learn in working groups to carry out projects. This allows you to acquire valuable soft skills over the course of your studies, such as the application of theory in practice, the development of team skills, and the further enhancement of organisational and communication skills. This experience gives you a crucial advantage in your future career. By means of the interdisciplinary approach, you are encouraged to develop the ability to think and act across disciplines and to be open to lifelong learning.
Why choose this programme?
The programme combines aspects of science and technology with social and economic subjects. As a result, the degree programme is very varied and enables you to adopt a comprehensive approach to problem solving – a quality that is in more demand than ever among today's professionals. You should have the ability to think in an interconnected way in complex contexts and to get an overall view. A basic knowledge in chemistry and biology is an advantage, but this subject is covered again in the lectures and tutorials in the first semester. If you have an inquiring mind and are interested in learning more about catering, the catering industry, and the supply management, as well as about advising and consulting, then this programme is the right choice.
How is the programme structured?
The duration of the bachelor's programme Catering and Supply Management is six semesters. It is composed of individual modules. Each module has specific learning objectives, which determine the content and the means of instruction.
In the first two semesters, you built a solid grounding in science and technology, social sciences, and economics and business management.
In the following four semesters, you expand your knowledge specifically in catering and household services management and acquire and develop professionally relevant social, culinary, and methodological skills.
As a trained specialist in the fields of catering, the catering industry, the provision of household services, and consulting, you can expect middle and senior managerial positions in organisations and companies. Alternatively, you can become self-employed.
As a graduate with an internationally recognised degree (BSc), you will qualify for various postgraduate degree programmes in Germany as well as abroad.
