International

The FGCSS supports the international networking of our members with academics from all over the world. We promote the mobility of doctoral students and binational doctoral programmes, regularly invite visiting professors to Fulda and organise international conferences.

The internationalisation of the Doctoral Centre is essentially made possible by the DAAD programme HAW.International, in which the FGCSS participates as part of the cooperation project Transnational Governance and Human Rights.

Partners worldwide

We are glad to support the initiation and implementation of large and small cooperations between the FGCSS and universities worldwide. Established exchange programmes exist within the framework of the project Transnational Governance and Human Rights with six selected partner universities.

  • Birzeit University near Ramallah, Palestine
  • German Jordanian University in Amman, Jordan
  • MacEwan University in Edmonton, Canada
  • Sciences Po Toulouse, Southern France
  • State University of New York (SUNY) in Cortland, USA
  • University College London (UCL), UK

Mobility Scholarships

Outgoings – Ways abroad

Whether it's a research stay or a conference visit we support FGCSS doctoral students in networking internationally.
Advice: We are glad to advise interested parties...

  • in the development of goals and ideas that suit the individual doctoral project
  • with the organisational implementation.

Funding: If possible, we provide mobility grants or support the acquisition of external funding. An informal enquiry is sufficient!

Incomings – Ways to Fulda

We welcome enquiries from doctoral researchers from abroad who are interested in a guest stay at the FGCSS and whose research interests match the focus of the doctoral centre.
Advice: We are happy to advise interested parties...

  • on academic objectives and supervision possibilities
  • in cooperation with the International Office on organisational procedures.

Funding: Within the framework of cotutelle-de-thèse procedures with our partner universities, we can award mobility grants within the DAAD-funded project Transnational Governance and Human Rights.

Cotutelle-de-thèse

In order to strengthen the cooperation with selected partner universities in the long term, we are working on the establishment of Cotutelle-de-thèse procedures within the framework of a DAAD-funded project. Our goal is a doctoral procedure that ensures close supervision at both participating partner institutions. Among other things, research stays as well as virtual colloquia or lectures are planned for this purpose. More details on the participating universities will follow shortly.

In addition, we also support individually initiated binational cooperations in doctoral procedures.

Visiting Professorship "Global Studies"

Every year, the FGCSS invites applications for the Visiting Professorship "Global Studies". The stay of international scholars expands our program of events, creates attractive discussion opportunities and inspires joint research activities.

The visiting professorship is made possible by the DAAD-funded project Transnational Governance and Human Rights.

International Fulda Summer Schools

Once a year, the FGCSS organizes an international summer school that brings together doctoral students and guest lecturers from all over the world.

This year, the series starts with an extraordinary prelude: in autumn and digitally. Between November 15 and 19, 2021 the International Fulda Autumn School on Global Inequalities and Human Rights will take place.

The Summer Schools 2021 to 2024 are part of the DAAD-funded project Transnational Governance and Human Rights in the framework of which, among other things, participation scholarships can be awarded to doctoral students from partner institutions.
