Model United Nations

Model Games “United Nations” (MUN) are a worldwide practice of simulations in which participants take on the role of an international delegate in a simulated committee of the United Nations (UN). Since 2019, Fulda delegations have been participating in real life and virtual MUN.

The preparation of delegations for MUNs once a year is part of the outgoing activities of the project. Preparation and organisation for MUNs are coordinated in the Fulda Centre for Transnational Governance in relation to the Project Practising Transnational Politics in Blended Learning (PATRAPO). The MUN preparation takes place in the form of co-teaching and student peer-to-peer coaching in cooperation with partner institutions.

The MacEwan University Edmonton is a partner in Transnational Politics and Human Rights. Prof. Dr. Chaldeans Mensah from MacEwan University Edmonton co-coordinates NMUN worldwide and systematically trains students to participate. Each year, one delegation of 10 Fulda students will be qualified and dispatched to a MUN. The participation of the 2020 and 2021 delegation from Fulda was already prepared in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Chaldeans Mensah and the MacEwan Model UN Club .

The MUN activities are connected with the project PATRAPO. This project will contribute to the international MUN community by developing open access teaching kits for a two-semester series of online blended learning seminars that train students for the participation in MUNs. The further PATRAPO partner institutions are Autonomous University Madrid and Zagreb University.
