Psychosocial Counselling and Therapy (MaBeTh)
Master of Arts (M.A.)

Study Programme Coordinator
About the study programme
The aim of the Psychosocial Counselling and Therapy programme is to enable social workers already working in counselling or social education workers with a university degree (BA/Diplom) to continue their academic training.
It enables students to upgrade their skills and to obtain additional qualifications by improving their theoretical and methodical skills in the areas of counselling and therapy and by trying them out in a carefully reflected way.
During their studies, students are equipped with the key specialist skills needed to work independently and responsibly in the area of psychosocial counselling.
The Master’s programme is aimed at individuals who already work in relevant areas of social work and want to improve their professional skills and/or find a new position in the field of counselling.
The study programme also teaches students practical research and leadership skills that are needed for senior, research or planning responsibilities in social work.
In most German federal states, the Master’s degree is also seen as the de facto admission requirement for training and continuing education in the field of psychotherapy for children and teenagers.
