Social Administration Management (BASS)
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the study programme
Dual and part-time study programmes are in considerable demand in the area of social administration because legal principles have been newly created in public employment services / basic security with the introduction of SGB II (German Social Code) and are subject to constant changes in legislation, thus entailing a need for further legal training. Moreover, professional work with job-seekers requires broad interdisciplinary expertise (e.g. in psychology, health sciences, social and cultural sciences or economics) together with, in particular, advanced legal skills and a knowledge of regional and transregional labour markets.
This is the first degree in social administration – focusing on designing / improving labour market and social participation and on local social administration – to be offered as a dual and part-time study programme.
The programme is run jointly by the Departments of Social Work, Nursing and Health Sciences, Social and Cultural Sciences and Business at Fulda University and the “Optionskommunen” (local authorities that have assumed responsibility for the long-term unemployed) in the federal state of Hesse. The programme offers students an excellent opportunity to acquire and develop interdisciplinary skills by closely combining theory and practice.
