Working for your practical placement partner is an integral part of your university studies. It is important to us that you can optimally combine both sides - the theoretical courses at the university and the practical placements at the enterprise.

Admission Requirements

For the dual Bachelor's programmes , you will need an entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or a general university entrance qualification. You can also enter the dual study programme with an intermediate school-leaving certificate and successfully completed professional training under certain conditions. The dual Master's programme requires a degree qualifying for entry into a profession. The other conditions may vary depending on the study programme.

Your application for a dual study place

Enterprise

Firstly, you apply to one of our practical placement partners (step 1). You send all relevant documents, such as your transcript of records, curriculum vitae, etc., to the enterprise and go through a normal application process. If you reach an agreement with an enterprise about the dual study programme, you conclude a learning agreement (step 2).

Finally, you apply to the university (3rd step, see below).

As a rule, enterprises start the application process early, sometimes more than a year in advance. However, as not all positions can always be filled, it may be worth applying at a later stage.

University

Applications with a German university entrance qualification or a first degree in Germany must be submitted via the Fulda University of Applied Sciences application portal. The application period for the winter semester (Bachelor's degree and Master's degree) starts on 15 April and ends on 30 September. For the summer semester (Master's only), applications can be submitted from 15 October to 31 March.

Applications with a foreign university entrance qualification or a first degree from outside Germany must be submitted via the uni-assist application portal. The application period for the winter semester (Bachelor's degree and Master's degree) starts on 1 March and ends on 30 September. For the summer semester (Master's degree only), applications can be submitted from 1 September to 31 March . However, it is advisable not to wait until the last day. When applying via uni-assist, you can also upload your learning agreement. The status of your application can be viewed on the uni-assist portal. If you are admitted, you will receive access data for horstl from the Student Administration. You can then accept your place (see step3.2). You can find further information in the application guide with international transcripts of records.

  • First create a profile in the application portal.
  • Now you can "add an application" on the platform. To do this, you are guided through the catalogue of questions.
  • "Your desired study programme": Enter your study programme here.
  • As a rule, you also choose the 1st semester ("1.FS").
  • Bachelor's degree:

    • After you have submitted your application, you will automatically receive your admission.

  • Master:

    • As you need a first degree in computer science or a study programme related to computer science with a grade of at least 2.5 as a condition, your transcript of records will first be checked manually.

  • Once you have been admitted to the study programme, you can accept the place directly. To do this, click on "Accept place" on the overview page. If you have been automatically admitted to a Bachelor's programme, you will be redirected here immediately.
  • You will then have to answer a few more questions. It is important here that the student semester fee is paid by you and not by your practical placement partner by direct debit mandate.
  • The graduation certificate must be uploaded for the university entrance qualification.
  • You also need to add your learning agreement with your practical placement partner.
  • After you have clicked on "Hand in documents", the status changes to "Place applied for".

  • The Student Administration will now check your documents.
  • If your documents are incomplete, you will receive the message "missing documents" in the portal.
  • You will receive the status message "Matriculated" a maximum of 2 weeks after all documents have been received.
  • You will then receive a confirmation from the Student Administration with all the important information.

It is important that you describe your problem as specifically as possible. Provide as much data about yourself as possible on the hotline and by email (study programme, name, applicant number, etc.) - this will enable your questions to be answered more quickly and effectively.
