4. Choose your desired degree programme. Make sure you answer all questions in the application carefully.
5. Pay the processing fees* incurred for the examination of your documents
6. Upload each document only once. Name the documents clearly in German or English. Please note: Only pdf files with a maximum size of 10 MB can be uploaded.

All application documents will be accepted by uni-assist as a scan and do not need to be sent there by post.

Most of the Master's programmes at Fulda University of Applied Sciences are offered in German. However, there are also study programmes that are taught entirely in English or programs that require both German and English language skills. Please check the overview page of our study programmes to find out the exact language requirements for your desired study programme. If only levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) are listed there, only the evidence specified in the language statutes of Fulda University of Applied Sciences will be accepted. If certain types of evidence are explicitly listed, only these apply.

German language requirements

English language requirements

1. Upon receipt of a complete application, uni-assist will check your documents against the formal criteria of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences. This usually takes several weeks. You can view the current processing times on the uni-assist website. uni-assist will inform you if any documents are missing. These can be submitted to uni-assist by the closing date for applications. We therefore strongly recommend that you submit your application early!
2. If your documents fulfil the formal admission requirements, uni-assist will forward your data to the Student Administration Office of Fulda University of Applied Sciences for final examination and decision. You will be informed of the forwarding by uni-assist via email.
3. Within the university, the application will be checked on the basis of qualitative criteria. These include, for example, whether the first degree is in the same or a related discipline, or whether the average grade is sufficient. In the case of "Global Software Development" and "Data Science", applicants who fulfil the qualitative criteria must also pass an online test. If your documents do not fulfil these criteria, we will have to reject your application and inform you of this by email, including an official notification.
4. For study programmes with restricted admission, all applications that meet the formal criteria will take part in the award procedure. This is carried out a few days after 15 July (winter semester) or 15 January (summer semester) and you will receive an email with the result. For study programmes with open admission, we can usually inform you of the decision on admission or rejection by email within four weeks of receiving your data from uni-assist.
5. Admitted applicants will only be informed of the decision by email. It is therefore essential that you regularly examine the spam folder of your email account so that you do not miss this important email! You will receive your access data for the university's online system, called HORSTL, with the admission email. There you can download your notification of admission. You must also accept your place via HORSTL and complete the online matriculation process.
6. After logging into HORSTL, you will be shown if you need to submit additional documents for matriculation (conditional admission). This will not be indicated in the notification of admission.

Even if you have not yet fully completed your first degree programme, you can already apply for a Master's degree.
If you are admitted, you can matriculate and start your university studies. You must submit evidence of the successful completion of your first degree by 30 November if you are starting in the winter semester and by 31 May if you are starting in the summer semester.

You can apply for a higher semester if you have already studied the same or a similar Master's programme at another university and would like to continue your university studies with us. If you have a foreign first degree, this application must be submitted via uni-assist - even if you wish to transfer from a German university to us for a higher semester.

Applications for a higher semester via uni-assist are possible from 1 February to 28/29 February for the summer semester and from 1 August to 31 August for the winter semester, with the exception of the Master Data Science and Master Globals Software Development study programmes.

Applicants who meet the formal conditions for admission to one of these study programmes must pass an additional online test to check their knowledge of computer science. This test is conducted by the Department of Applied Computer Science. It tests competences from the field of applied computer science such as programming, algorithms and data structures, software engineering and databases as well as from fields of application such as communication systems, digital media, operational applications or embedded systems. This aptitude test can be waived for applicants who have a university degree from a country in which the ECTS credits standards apply. The decision on this is made by the head of the study programme. Please direct any questions regarding the exact content and expire of the test directly to the Department of Applied Computer Science.

The test usually takes place in mid-July for winter semester applications and mid-December for summer semester applications. The test invitation and a sample test are sent to participants by email approximately two weeks before the test date. Admission decisions are announced by email a few days after the test.

Admitted applicants who are unable to accept the place (e.g. due to immigration difficulties) have the opportunity to obtain a place within the two subsequent semesters without having to complete the online test again. This requires a new application via uni-assist and the uploading of the notification of admission already received within this application.
Please note: If admission requirements change from one semester to the next, these must be fulfilled when submitting a new application. Only the re-taking of the test can be waived

An admission is only valid for the semester stated in the notification. It is not possible to automatically postpone admission to a later semester. You must apply again for the new semester via the route specified for your applicant group. For the Global Software Development study programme, renewed attendance and passing the online test is not required again.
