Entry into a higher semester

You can apply for a higher semester if you have already studied in another study programme/at another university and would like to transfer to the Fulda University of Applied Sciences. Different application periods apply for this and additional documents may need to be submitted. If you intend to enter a higher semester in a study programme at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, you will need to count towards and recognise study periods and achievements already completed.

When and how do I apply?

The application periods for the higher semesters are as follows:
Winter semester 1 August - 31 August and summer semester 01 February - 28/29 February

First of all, all admission requirements for the chosen study programme must be met and evidence provided, e.g. university entrance qualification for a Bachelor's application and first degree for a Master's application as well as any other conditions such as English skills or internship. In addition, you must submit your previous achievements and a clearance certificate from your previous university.

Please enter your data online via the horstl application portal, choose the desired degree programme and "higher semester" and upload all required evidence.

It is not possible to carry out a preliminary check of the creditable achievements already acquired. We recommend that you carry out your own initial comparison using the module descriptions in the respective examination regulations.

When can I expect a decision and how does the application process work?

Decisions are made in September for the winter semester and in March for the summer semester. The Student Administration Office decides together with the Examination Board whether admission is possible and to which semester. You will then receive a letter of admission or rejection via the portal.

After matriculation, you must apply directly to the Examination Board of the respective department for the transfer of the achievements you have already acquired. We recommend that you make an appointment for this yourself approx. 3 weeks after the start of lectures.
