Compulsory identification: Place your student ID visibly next to your seat at the start of the examination.

Open grades from the preparatory semester?
Instructors can enter grades in horstl up to two weeks after the start of the semester. After this deadline expires, an automatic reminder is sent by the Student Administration Office. Please refrain from making enquiries during this time and check your status in horstl regularly.

Examination registration / deregistration

The registration and deregistration deadlines are set individually by the departments. During this time, you will organise your examinations independently via horstl.

Tip: Make a note of your department's deadlines at the beginning of the semester to avoid stress during the examination phase!

Missed the deadline?

What should you do if you have forgotten to register or deregister?

  • Contact your Examination Board in charge immediately.
  • They will decide on a case-by-case basis whether you can register later.
  • You can find the contact details on the website of your department.

Inability to take an examination

If you have registered for an examination and are unable to take it for health reasons, you must provide formal evidence of this.

The right form

Please use only the official certificate of incapacity for examination and have it completed by a doctor.

Important: A normal doctor's certificate is not accepted

Special Regulation: thesis

Special regulations apply if you are reported ill during your thesis period:

Note: Upload the certificate as early as possible to ensure smooth processing.

Process & upload

  • Have the certificate completed in full by your doctor.
  • Then upload the document in the same tab in horstl.
  • After processing, the examination will be booked as a withdrawal (RT). The attempt is not counted and has no negative consequences for your status.

Compensation for disadvantages for studying with a disability / chronic illness

Students studying with a disability or a chronic illness are entitled to compensation for disadvantages in order to enable equal participation in examinations.

It serves to compensate for restrictions in the performance of examinations. 

Important:

  • No change in content: The level and content of the examination remain identical.
  • Modified framework conditions: Only the form or conditions of the examination are adapted.
  • Legal basics: Details are regulated in § 21 para. 1 ABPO .
