Re-registration

Re-registration for the next semester is required if you wish to continue your university studies and none of the special conditions apply that would make re-enrolment unnecessary.

Re-registration takes place by paying the semester fee on time. You can do this conveniently via horstl: Simply issue the direct debit mandate within the re-registration period.

Special conditions

  • Renewal of studies after passing an examination: You have passed all examinations and would like to continue your university studies in the next semester. Therefore, re-enrolment is necessary.
  • Last examination will be assessed in the subsequent semester and continuation of studies: Even if your last examination was taken in the current semester but will not be assessed until the following semester and you wish to continue your university studies, you must re-register.

Re-registration period winter semester 26/27

1 June - 31 July 2026

  • On-campus study programme: 404.80 euros (incl. Germany semester ticket)
  • Distance learning programme: 119.00 euros (does not include Germany semester ticket) - depending on the study programme

Composition of the semester fee

The semester fee for the winter semester 26/27 is comprised of the following: 

  • fee for Studierendenwerk 118.00 euros (distance learning programmes: 59.00 euros)
  • contribution for AStA 10.00 euros
  • Germany semester transport ticket ("Deutschlandsemesterticket") 226.80 euros
  • administration fee 50.00 euros

Total: 404.80 euros for on-campus study programmes (incl. the “Deutschlandsemesterticket”) / 119.00 euros for distance learning programmes (does not include the “Deutschlandsemesterticket”) - depending on study programme

Restriction

It may not be possible to re-register for the next semester because a block has been placed in horstl. In this case, please take care of any outstanding evidence immediately so that the block can be removed and re-registration can be completed on time.

Reasons for reimbursement after re-registration

If you have already paid the semester fee for the subsequent semester during re-enrolment, you can apply for a refund under the following conditions:

  • Double payment:
    You have paid the semester fee twice (evidence required)
  • Degree 
    You have successfully completed your university studies in the current semester and have already been issued with your degree documents.
    Tip: If you have taken your last examination in the current semester, but the assessment is not expected to take place until the subsequent semester, re-registration is not necessary. If you pass the examination, you can apply for your degree documents via horstl even if you have the status "exmatriculated". If the examination is not passed, you will be re-registered retroactively. In this case, please contact horstl(at)hs-fulda.de.
  • Voluntary withdrawal before the start of the new semester
    You would like to de-registrate at your own request by the end of the current semester (31 March or 30 September). Regardless of the reason for your de-registration, you will be refunded the semester fee minus the administrative fee for the subsequent semester.
  • De-registration due to a change of university prior the start of lectures:
    You apply for de-registration due to a change of university prior the official start of the lecture period of the following semester. You will then receive a refund of the semester fee minus the administrative fee for the subsequent semester. The condition is that evidence of matriculation at another university is submitted.
