Practical
Apply new knowledge directly in laboratory exercises and at the practice partner.

Computer science is omnipresent in today's world and plays a major role in practically every area of life. Computer scientists are always at the cutting edge, developing complex systems, advising customers, managing networks, creating user-friendly apps and programmes and using creative tools.
The areas of responsibility of computer scientists are both versatile and varied and often allow them to think outside the box. The dual study programme gives you the best career prospects, as you gain extensive practical experience alongside your studies with the cooperating practice partner at your side.
In the dual study programme you can optimally combine practice and theory. You get to know both sides and can apply your newly acquired knowledge in practice or discuss questions from your day-to-day work at the university. By alternating between the study phase at the university and the practical phase at the company, theoretical knowledge can be applied in practice straight away.
In the first two semesters, both the technical and scientific fundamentals are taught. From the third semester onwards, there is a wide range of compulsory electives to choose from. There are always practical modules in the co-operating company. The final semester takes place entirely in the company. Students work intensively on a practical project and then write their Bachelor's thesis.
Lots of basic knowledge and yet specialised - In addition to long-lasting basic knowledge, the degree programme offers a wide range of electives in the following areas:
Embedded systems can be found in many areas of everyday life - for example in vehicles (airbags, navigation, etc.), mobile phones, household appliances or consumer electronics. Here they perform monitoring, control or regulation functions. Graduates should be able to
As part of the IT infrastructure specialisation, you will deal with the design, planning, development and use of communication networks such as intranet systems or secure IT networks. You will acquire subject-specific skills, abilities and knowledge from your future professional field in the area of public and private networks (Internet, intranet, WLAN, VPN, ...) and will thus be able to successfully apply scientific methods and techniques in solving current problems in the network-side design, development and introduction of mobile applications and various Internet services in professional practice. Graduates should be able to
In the field of media informatics, the focus is on creative design and the digitalisation of media such as electronic publishing, audio-video production, 3D modelling or the theoretical foundations of visualisation. Graduates
In the Business Informatics specialisation, you will learn to understand business contexts and to map and support them using methods and applications. One example of this is creating product recommendations based on the purchases of other customers or optimising supply chains. Graduates should

3. application to Fulda University of Applied Sciences for the degree programme in Applied Computer Science
As a rule, companies start the application process early, sometimes more than a year in advance. However, as not all positions can always be filled, it may be worth applying at a later stage.

As the practice partners invest in your training, the chances of being taken on by many companies are very good. In addition, you will have excellent career opportunities in a wide range of industries.
After completing the dual study programme in Applied Computer Science, you will have excellent career prospects, as you will have relevant practical experience in addition to your theoretical knowledge. This makes you the ideal candidate for direct entry into a responsible position in the IT sector.
Computer scientists work in almost all sectors and in companies of all sizes. They are in demand in a wide variety of business areas, such as sales, quality management, hardware and software development or consulting. These diverse areas of application offer computer scientists varied activities and the opportunity to specialise according to their own interests and position themselves professionally with their specialist knowledge.
Possible areas of work include: software development and programming, planning and operation of IT and network infrastructures, IT administration and management, consulting in IT matters, embedded systems, user service and support, development and administration of databases, application development and customising of ERP systems, development of multimedia applications and multimedia products, audio and video processing and the development of learning systems.

The degree programme is offered by the Department of Applied Computer Science. Find out more about your new environment, the teaching and your future professors on the department's website.
