The four-semester Master's degree programme deepens the mathematical, technical/computer science and business management knowledge from the Bachelor's degree programme. The dual study programme also allows you to optimally combine theory and practice. Study phases at the university and practical phases in the company alternate so that you can keep an eye on your academic background and the company perspective at the same time. Newly acquired knowledge can be applied directly in practice and questions from everyday working life can be incorporated into the lectures, seminars and exercises at the university.
The dual Master's degree programme in Applied Computer Science combines theory and practice in an optimal way and offers the opportunity to be financially independent during your studies. To be successful on the programme, you will need a willingness to perform and team spirit.
In the first three semesters, you can choose modules from a wide range of electives according to your preferences. In consultation with your company, you can choose one of the specialisations Embedded Systems, IT Infrastructure, Media Informatics or Business Informatics and learn about specific application areas of computer science based on specific tasks. The final semester is spent entirely in the company, where the Master's thesis is also written. During the degree programme, there are always practical modules in the company.
First professionally qualifying degree with at least 180 ECTS credits in Computer Science or a related subject with an equivalent amount of Computer Science. The overall grade must be at least 2.5. In exceptional cases, applicants with a lower overall grade may also be admitted. Study contract with a company with which the university has concluded a cooperation agreement.
At the time of application, the language level must correspond to the intermediate level certificate ‘Zertifikat Deutsch’ of the Goethe-Institut. Proof of having passed the German language examination (DSH2) or an equivalent certificate must be submitted for enrolment. Exception: Applicants who have obtained their study qualification at a German-speaking institution.
Winter semester
With German educational certificates: 2 May to 30 September, with foreign educational certificates: 1 March to 30 September
Summer semester
With German educational certificates: 1 December to 31 March; with foreign educational certificates: 1 October to 31 March

After completing the dual Master's degree programme in Applied Computer Science, you will have excellent career prospects, as you will have relevant practical experience in addition to your theoretical knowledge. This makes you the ideal candidate for direct entry into a responsible position in the IT sector.
You will take up professional positions in specialist departments such as IT, organisation, development, strategy, controlling or marketing and are predestined for promotion to management positions. You will also be in high demand at consultancies or software companies. You will contribute to the further development of your specialism and can gain further qualifications through a doctorate.
