Teaching the subject of health

In the Master's programme Vocational Education in Health, students deepen their knowledge of vocational education and specialised knowledge and are qualified to teach the subject of health at different types of schools.

The lead-management responsibility for this Master's programme lies with the University of Kassel. Therefore, please contact them directly with your enquiry.

The Master of Education forms the professional basics for teaching appointments at professional schools with health as a subject. The degree enables entry into the second phase of teacher training, the school preparatory service period (period of practical training).

Possible schools of this type include

  • Vocational training colleges for health professions that are regulated by the Vocational Training Act (BBiG) or the Trade and Crafts Code (HWO) (e.g. optician, health system administrator, orthopaedic shoemaker, orthopaedic technician, medical assistant, dental assistant, dental technician).
  • Higher technical school (FOS) with the discipline of healthcare
  • Vocational secondary schools with the discipline of health (health as an advanced course or as a supplementary basic course)

With the Master of Arts, it is possible to teach at schools in the health system, in particular at vocational training colleges for nursing professions, or in further and continuing education in the health system.
