Theory & practice

You use your theoretical knowledge directly at your enterprise during the practical placements.

The dual study programme in business administration is just right for anyone who not only wants to understand business, but also actively help shape it. It particularly appeals to those who:

  • want to learn how enterprises can increase their success through optimised processes and smart goal setting
  • want to combine theory and practice - be it through sound business expertise, projects related to practice or international experience
  • want to acquire specific knowledge in one of the five specialisations (finance, accounting, human resources management, marketing or sustainability management)
  • attach great importance to developing soft skills, such as leadership, organisational talent and negotiation skills, in addition to professional competence, in order to take on responsibility in their professional life
  • are interested in critically scrutinising how enterprises react to change and developing sustainable, innovative solutions.

The dual study programme in business administration combines theory and practice and takes place at two learning locations - at the university and at the enterprise. In a transfer of three months each between the university and company phases, you will learn to solve business management problems both theoretically and practically during the 6-semester study programme.

During the university phases, you will take a course of four business administration modules with a practical application focus per semester. You will benefit from the wealth of practical experience and theoretical knowledge of the lecturers at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and from practical experience. In addition to traditional business management content, you will acquire important soft skills such as intercultural and holistic thinking, sustainable action, the ability to work in a team and social competence.

In the practical placements, you will apply your knowledge directly in the enterprise. As part of a practical module, you will write an academic research paper that demonstrates the practical relevance and your analytical skills.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to deepen your individual interests during your university studies. Choose two specialisation subjects from areas such as finance, accounting, marketing, human resources management or sustainability and specialise in your desired field.

The university studies conclude in the sixth semester with the Bachelor's thesis. You can complete an optional period of study abroad to gain international experience.

The expire for applicants who would like to start with a cooperation partner is as follows: Firstly, you apply directly to one or more enterprises and in most cases go through a selection procedure there. After successfully completing this procedure, you conclude a learning agreement with the practical placement partner for the joint implementation of the dual study programme. Following the conclusion of the contract, you apply for the "Business Administration - dual" study programme at Fulda University of Applied Sciences as part of the admission procedure.
