Electrical Engineering and Information Technology - Start Smart (Bachelor)

They should be curious enough to want to get to the bottom of things. And they should also have the determination to solve tricky questions. We take an interest in scientific, technical and mathematics issues for granted. What is also important is to be able to think outside the box and consider the bigger picture. After all, electrical engineers have to solve complex tasks. And that requires one thing above all: teamwork. Those who are flexible and have the necessary social competence and critical faculties have the best conditions.

While only compulsory modules are offered in the first semesters, you will later set your individual specialisation through a combination of compulsory elective modules and individual project work. In the final semester, you will acquire additional practical skills in the professional work process during a 15-week practical placements phase and allocate your Bachelor's thesis as proof of your ability to solve problems independently.

The Start Smart programme gives you the opportunity to study at an adapted pace. Start Smart offers the opportunity to start your university studies with solid basics. Modules from the first semesters in particular are crucial for successful engineering studies, but are often the biggest challenge in university studies. In addition to individual regular modules, you will therefore be offered courses with individual supervision (mentoring). Additional courses help you to organise your university studies and practical projects teach you typical engineering working methods. The basics of the subject are thus deepened by the supplementary courses and the learning density is spread over several semesters.

The following specialisations can be chosen during university studies:
 

• Automation and Robotics
  The automation of production processes is an important competitive factor for all branches of industry in the German business sector. In the Automation and Robotics (AT) specialisation, you will acquire in-depth knowledge so that production processes can be operated economically and energy-efficiently.
• Computer Engineering
  As research at the interface between computer science and electrical engineering, Computer Engineering (CE) is a key discipline in information technology. In the department, you will deal with the analysis, design and commissioning of control devices and embedded systems, such as those found in mobile phones or coffee machines.

• University entrance qualification
• Applicants who have not applied for their university entrance qualification at a German-speaking facility must provide evidence of German skills at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (DSH-2 or equivalent).
