Study in the centre of Germany
Globalisation presents all companies with new challenges: the future of large corporations, but also of small and medium-sized enterprises, lies in increasing internationalisation, greater cross-border trade and the globalisation of value chains. A management degree programme with an international focus is therefore more relevant than ever.
The study programme optimally prepares you for management tasks in an international enterprise. It familiarises you with the content, concepts and instruments of international Business Management. The specialisation in Business Management and Management is supplemented by legal and economic knowledge, which is particularly important in a globalised and multinational business.
In our program, you will learn how to successfully manage and shape enterprises and projects on a global level. From divisional and leadership skills to intercultural challenges, you will be prepared for all aspects of international management.
Here you will find all the information you need about the International Management study programme. Firstly, two of our current students introduce themselves. This is followed by all the facts about the university studies and then you can watch the video reports of our enthusiastic students and graduates.
Successfully offering products and services in foreign markets or organising and managing value chains across national borders - these are just two examples of the challenges facing enterprises in an increasingly competitive international environment.
The Master's programme "International Management" prepares you optimally for the corresponding management tasks: You will learn to think in an interdisciplinary and intercultural way and to work across disciplines. As a result, you will be able to work flexibly in various business functions. Once you have proven yourself in practice, you will be able to recommend yourself for taking on responsible management functions in an international context, regardless of the sector and size of the company.
In short: if you have enjoyed business content in your previous university studies, find the internationalisation of business exciting and want to aspire to a management position in an internationally oriented enterprise after a few years of professional experience, then our Master's programme in International Management is the right course for you.
Here in Fulda, you will find an ideal study environment with small group sizes, a high proportion of international students and direct contact with the instructors.
The Master's programme "International Management" has two core content areas: the core competences in business administration ("Divisional Skills") and the so-called "Leadership Skills", which comprise methodological, social, intercultural and communicative competences. In addition, the second core area emphasises the relationship between management, entrepreneurship and innovation and change processes in enterprises.
In a further area of study ("International Business Environment"), the essential legal and economics framework conditions for management tasks in an internationally operating enterprise are addressed. Two compulsory elective modules give you the opportunity to help shape your university studies according to your own interests. Finally, under the umbrella term "integration", the programme focuses on the networking and practical application of previously acquired content and competences.
The recommended timetable for your university studies in the first semester provides for you to deepen your business knowledge in the areas of Human Resources, Marketing and Responsible Business Management with an international specialisation. You will also receive an introduction to relevant quantitative methods, international economic law and international economic relations.
The second semester serves to build up knowledge in corporate management, risk, innovation and strategic management. In addition, social competences in the areas of management and communication are taught.
Networking modules are planned for the third semester: a comprehensive Business Simulation in which you manage an internationally active high-tech company and the Master's thesis on an international management topic of your choice.
Two compulsory elective modules in the second and third semesters allow you to set your own specialisations.

Period of study abroad/Erasmus/work placement semester
The Department of Business has numerous lively ERASMUS partnerships with universities throughout Europe as well as further cooperation with universities in Europe, the USA, Argentina, China, South Korea, Jordan and Australia, among others.
You have the opportunity to utilise this excellent network of the department for a supplementary period of study abroad. In some cases, it is possible to obtain a second degree (double degree) during the period of study abroad.
Further information on double degrees and a semester abroad can be found here.
In addition, the department's placement office offers support in finding an internship in Germany or abroad.
In particular, the period of study abroad and the work placement semester are good opportunities to earn additional ECTS credits, e.g. if your Bachelor's degree has fewer than 210 ECTS credits.
International Management, Global Leadership
University degree in the field of Business Sciences (including Engineering and Management and Business IT) totalling 180 ECTS credits.
Furthermore, applicants must have English skills at level B2. Applicants who have obtained their university entrance qualification in an English-speaking country or have already completed university studies predominantly in English are exempt from this requirement.
Winter semester:
With German educational certificates: 15 April to 15 July; with foreign educational certificates: 1 March to 15 June
Summer semester:
With German educational certificates: 15 October to 15 January; with foreign educational certificates: 1 September to 15 December
After successfully completing your Master's degree, you will have extensive professional, social and communication competences for demanding tasks in the field of international management. In your first professional appointment, you will be able to work flexibly in various operational functions - influenced by your Bachelor's degree and the specialisations you have chosen - regardless of industry and company size. You will then have the necessary theoretical and practical skills for responsible management tasks at enterprise or department head level. In these higher functions, pure specialist knowledge is often less decisive than holistic decision-making and action competence, so your generalist Master's degree should pay off particularly well.
In addition to preparing you in terms of content and methodology, our aim is to introduce you to practical work at an early stage: For example, practitioners from enterprises are regularly appointed as lecturers or brought in to give guest lectures, e.g. at the department's sponsorship association. Many students also write their Master's thesis in close cooperation with an international enterprise and thus establish valuable personal contacts to the practice even before their degree. Another good opportunity is an internship as part of the voluntary work placement semester, where you will be supported by the department's placement office.
”I'm Tobias and I'm studying International Management in the Master's programme at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. What particularly impressed me about this study programme was the personal exchange with the lecturers. In addition, the intercultural exchange with students from different countries makes the lectures extremely interesting.
