global flows of goods
You will learn how global companies organise their supply chains.

Logistics managers deal with many interesting questions and challenges: How do global companies organise their flow of goods? How do a wide variety of goods from a wide range of countries reach the shops on time? How does a car manufacturer ensure that all components are available in the assembly hall at the right time? Anyone interested in these issues who wishes to link theory and practice directly is well-suited to this degree programme.
The aim of the programme is to provide students with a broad and integrated knowledge and understanding of the scientific principles of logistics management and its business management foundations, and to enable them to apply this knowledge to both familiar and new logistics challenges.
Logistics managers deal with a wide range of fascinating questions and challenges: How do international companies manage their flow of goods? How do a wide variety of products from different countries reach the retail sector on time? How does a car manufacturer ensure that all components are available in time for assembly? Anyone interested in such topics and keen to combine theory with practice is ideally suited to this degree programme. Furthermore, skills in coordination, organisation and negotiation are an advantage.
Procedure for applicants with a study contract with a partner organisation
Applicants who wish to undertake the dual study programme in collaboration with one of the university’s partner organisations should first submit a written application to one or more partner companies. Application deadlines may vary from company to company – in some cases, positions are advertised as early as a year before the start of the programme, whilst others are filled at short notice.
Applications must generally be submitted one year before the start of the programme.
At many companies, applicants go through a selection process. Those who successfully complete this process sign a study contract with the industry partner for the joint delivery of the dual study programme.
Once the contract has been signed, you must apply for the Logistics Management programme at Fulda University of Applied Sciences as part of the admissions process. A copy of the study contract must be submitted with your application.
If you have any questions regarding admission and the application process, please contact the dual study programme coordinator.
The distinctive feature of this degree programme is its dual structure: unlike in conventional degree programmes, students alternate between study periods at the university and work placements with a partner organisation in three-month cycles. During this six-semester degree programme, you will be able to gather, evaluate and interpret relevant information at two learning locations in order to solve practical and theoretical problems in logistics, and to draw scientifically sound conclusions that take social, scientific and ethical considerations into account.
Key areas of focus
These are set in the following areas:
The programme utilises application-oriented teaching methods, such as case studies, project work and simulation exercises. Thanks to the relevant professional experience of the teaching staff, practical insights are also incorporated into the modules.

During the work placement phase, students write an academic practical thesis as part of a practical module. In the sixth semester, the programme concludes with the Bachelor’s thesis.
The dual degree programme in Logistics Management provides students with a broad-based qualification: at the heart of the subject matter taught lies the acquisition of skills relating to both internal and cross-organisational logistics – in other words, content that

A dual study programme means combining academic study with practical experience whilst you are still at university. This offers you, as a graduate of the Logistics Management programme, excellent prospects for the future. On the one hand, because you can start your career with practical experience; on the other, because the chances of being offered a job by your industry partner are very high. You can often take up a position of responsibility with your industry partner immediately after completing your studies.
Furthermore, the importance of logistics – as Germany’s third-largest economic sector – for business success is constantly growing. Combined with advancing globalisation trends and technological developments, this presents logistics managers with new challenges and exciting areas of work. The qualifications you gain during the degree programme provide you with practical training and prepare you optimally for your professional career.
However, once you have successfully completed your Bachelor’s degree, you may also be interested in building on the qualifications you have acquired by progressing to a Master’s programme. You can find further study programmes under ‘About the Subject’ on this page.

The degree programme is offered by the Department of Economics. Find out more on the department’s website about your new environment, the teaching and your future lecturers.
